What I Know Off The Top of My Head About Plants
What I Know Off The Top Of My Head About Plants Well, for starters, there are several ways you can get new plants: from seed, from divisions (like, cut the fern in two), from cuttings (only some grow this way…but some easy examples are ivy & coleus). The cutting method is more complicated, because it depends upon the plant and the time of year. For instance, in the spring when there’s a lot of new growth, you can take “softwood” cuttings…plunk ‘em in some potting soil and off they go. At this point in their life cycle they’ve got a lot of cell division going on and this helps them take root. There’s also semi-hardwood cuttings, this is later on during the growing season…the plant’s still got a lot of growth going but is starting to get “woody” and this woodiness isn’t as cell division-y. Then when the plants in it’s dormant stage (winter) you take hardwood cuttings (an example of this is a few inches of the rose “cane” or branch). Each of these types of cuttings gets it’s own particular treatment and it depends on what kind of plant it is, which treatment is best for it. So, it all sounds a bit complicated, but, to re-cap, you’ve got: ·seeds ·division (iris, ferns, agapanthus, daylilies, and more) ·cuttings, which break down to softwood semi-hardwood hardwood There may be more, but, the title of this is, What I Know Off The Top Of My Head About Plants. Another thing I know and frequently do, is search it. “Best way to propagate hydrangea”. Works like a charm.
